Teams and Groups
Team coaching:
Teams are groups of people working together towards a common goal or objective and how the team members interact with each other will influence their success.
Being made up of individuals, with individuals strengths means that cohesion, collaboration and mutual support may be less than ‘optimal’ or even toxic. Areas that often fall short of optimal might include:
professional candor
feedback - giving it and receiving it
utilizing disagreement
providing insight to challenges or risks
And of course, the natural power dynamic established by the team leader, or other organizational leaders, may affect all of the above.
As an external coach, I will come work with the team leader and team as a whole, providing insight on the interactions and their work, coaching the team and leader to cohesive collaboration and resilience.
Program frequency and duration will depend upon the objectives that are agreed to at the outset, preferably with indicators of success and checkpoints to determine progress.
Group coaching:
The group being coached is not a team, but a collective. Collectives may be specific members across an organization with specific concerns.
